MITCHELL, SD – Freshman Kaden DeCoteau had a big day for the #9 University of Mary wrestling team as the Bismarck, ND, native captured his weight class at the DWU Open.
 
After placing fifth the week before at the Jimmie Open, DeCoteau again dominated the opposition. He had three pins and a major decision in his second collegiate open tournament.
 
After an opening round bye, the Century High School product opened with a win by fall over Ayden Kelley (Briar Cliff, IA). He followed with an 18-6 major decision win over over Corbin White of Fort Hays State.
 
In the semifinals, DeCoteau dispatched Zach Zitek of host Dakota Wesleyan by fall at 2:39. He finished the day with a pin of Augustana's Connor Whiteley just 1:28 into the bout.
 
Also placing for the Marauders was freshman Lane Ewing, taking 2^nd at 157. After opening with a pair of decisions, 7-3 over Tyson Johnson (Dakota Wesleyan) and 4-1 over Sean Howk (Southwest Minnesota State). In the semifinals he downed Ben Peters (Briar Cliff, Dec 8-1) before dropping a decision by fall to Connor Simmonds (Augustana).
