BISMARCK, ND – Looking for the sweep on the final weekend of the season, the University of Mary had to instead settle for a split. After downing the University of Minnesota Crookston in five sets on Friday, the Marauders nearly extended Saturday's Senior Day match to the maximum before succumbing to Bemidji State University 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 27-25).
Maddie Cooper and
Reyna Isenbart keyed the Marauders (9-19 overall, 4-14 Northern Sun) efforts. Cooper was unstoppable in the middle, crushing 14 kills and making just one attack error for an impressive .464 hitting percentage. She also added a pair of aces and two block assists.
Isenbart was even more efficient on the attack. The Marauders right side hitter had ten kills without an error to finish with a hitting percentage of .476.
Nehkyah Ellis, one of seven seniors, had eight kills, four aces and seven digs in her final match. Fellow senior Ally Gruner added eight kills and nine digs.
Kameron Selvig dished out 38 assists, made nine digs and contributed three kills.
Kaia Sueker finished with 20 digs to tie for game-high honors.
Four Beavers (10-16, 7-11) had double digit kills, led by Hallie Mertz with 16 and Ashley Crowl with 15.
UMary finished its season with the most wins since posting nine in 2016.
