Megan Zander led the University of Mary Women's Basketball team with 16 points while
Addison Rozell helped with a double-double in the Marauders 60-86 defeat to #12 Minnesota State University Friday night. Joey Batt and Natalie Bremer led with 22 and 21 points respectively as the most potent scoring offense in the Northern Sun ran away with the game in the fourth quarter.Â
Megan Voit hit a trey for the game's first score 0:42 into the contest. After the Marauders (11-7, 10-5 NSIC) held them to just one score for the game's first 4 minutes, the Mavericks (16-3, 12-3 NSIC) rattled off a 9-0 run before the end of the first quarter to lead 19-11.Â
UMary carried an 8-0 run of their own into the second quarter, and even retook the lead 25-24 on a second-chance layup by
Moriku Hakim with 4:49 left in the half. The game was back and forth up to halftime, with MSU edging UMary 40-35. The Marauders shooting vastly improved in the second quarter, making 10-14 (71.4%) from the field.Â
While the Mavericks were able to capitalize on the Marauders growing turnover troubles,
Megan Zander and
Moriku Hakim kept UMary in the game 53-62 with some big scores in the third quarter.Â
A pair of inside scores by
Moriku Hakim and free throws by
Ryleigh Wacha kept the Marauders within reach 60-69 with 5:36 to go. However, the Mavericks would run away with the game on a 17-0 run, shutting the Marauders out the rest of the way.Â
UMary was able to shoot more efficiently than MSU with a 0.489 shooting percentage to the Mavericks 0.388 percent, as well as win the rebound matchups 45-35. However, turnovers were critical for the Marauders, committing 45 to the Mavericks 13.Â

Megan Zander scored a team-high 16 points, making 7-14 from the field. Zander also grabbed three steals.Â
Addison Rozell put up her second double-double on the year with an 11-point, 10-rebound night.Â
Moriku Hakim scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.Â
Megan Voit hit a pair of treys for six points and grabbed five rebounds.Â
