SIOUX FALLS, SD – Despite a strong performance by Nicole Eckhardt, the University of Mary softball team fell in their doubleheader to Augustana University.
GAME 1 University of Mary 0 Augustana University 7
The Marauders failed to record a hit against Ashley Mickschl and Makayla Williams. AU scored four runs in the second inning. The Vikings added on one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth.
Nicole Eckhardt pitched one and two-thirds inning in relief and allowed no runs while striking out three batters.
GAME 2 St. University of Mary 0 Augustana University 1
It was pitching duel in game two. AU brought home their only run on a home run hit by Mary Pardo to right-center. The Marauders had three hits while the Vikings had four. AU's Amber Elliot pitched seven shutout innings against UMary.
