WAYNE, NE – An offensive explosion saw the University of Mary softball team (5-27, 3-9 Northern Sun) split their road doubleheader against Wayne State College (6-27, 3-9 NSIC).

UMary fell behind in the third inning after WSC put up five runs.
Haley Berube started the Marauders comeback in the fourth inning after she singled to left field, scoring
Eryn De Jonge.
Devyn Ritz then followed and hit a double to right-center, which brought home
Sariah Perez and Berube.
UMary tied the game up at 5-5 in the top of the fifth inning after
Avery Dome tripled down the left-field line, scoring
Natasha Stubbs. Dome came around to score after De Jonge singled to center field. The Wildcats got the lead back after scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Ariana Retuta. The Marauders took the lead in the top of the seventh inning after fifth-year senior
Rachael Laetsch singled to left field, scoring Berube. Nichole Eckhardt shut down WSC in the bottom of the seventh inning, earning her third win of the season.

The Wildcats grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Marauders responded with a run in the top of the second inning. WSC then added on a run in the bottom of the second inning.
UMary took a 6-3 lead in the top of the third inning after the Marauders scored five runs. The Wildcats would score ten unanswered runs to win 13-6.
UMary had nine hits while WSC had 16. The Marauders committed five errors and the Wildcats had two.
