Berube, Eckhardt lead the Marauders to a sweep against the Golden Eagles

BISMARCK, ND – Haley Berube and Nicole Eckhardt led the way as the University of Mary softball team swept the University of Minnesota Crookston in a doubleheader.

Berube had six RBIs in game one against UMC. This is the most RBIs a Marauder has had since Colleen Crutchfield, who had seven in 2016. Eckhardt combined for eight innings over two games, shutting out the Golden Eagles offense.

UMC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Madison Wszolek cut the Golden Eagles lead in half after she hit an RBI single to right-center, scoring Berube in the bottom second inning.

UMC took a 6-1 lead in the top of the third inning. UMary showed resiliency and responded by putting up four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Sariah Perez started the rally with a single to center field which brought home Avery Dome. Berube followed with a three-run homer to right field, scoring Brooke De Jonge and Perez.

The Marauders continued their offensive explosion in the fourth inning. Berube gave UMary a 7-6 lead after she singled to left field, which scored Natasha Stubbs and Dome. Perez and Berube came home to score after Devyn Ritz reached on a catching error by the UMC first baseman. Wszolek drove in Ritz after she singled to center field.

Berube drove in her sixth run in the fifth inning as she doubled to left field, scoring Dome. The Marauders tacked on another run in the sixth inning after Kaylee Kannegiesser drove in Ritz on a sacrifice bunt, securing a 12-6 Marauders win.

Emari Evans picked up her first win of the season.

Haley Berube went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run as she drove in six runs and scored three herself.

UMary came out hot in the first inning by scoring five runs. Haley Berube continues her great day by driving in Sariah Perez and Eryn De Jonge with a double to right-center. Devyn Ritz brought home Berube with a double to left field. Brooke McClure hit her first home run of the season to center field, driving in Ritz.

The Marauders tacked on another run in the second inning after De Jonge scored on a wild pitch. Natasha Stubbs walked off the Marauders in the bottom of the fifth inning, singling to right field to score Aria Retuta and Brooke De Jonge.
