ABERDEEN, SD – Great pitching helped lead the University of Mary softball team (7-29, 5-11 Northern Sun) to a sweep over Northern State University (11-35, 3-21NSIC). Hannah Chambers and Emari Evans picked up their second wins of the season.

It was a pitching duel in game one with both teams failing to score in the first four innings.
Eryn De Jonge kicked off the scoring for the Marauders in the fifth inning after she doubled down the right field line, scoring
Ariana Retuta.
Sariah Perez followed that up with a single to right-field, which brought home De Jonge.
NSU would cut UMary's lead to 2-1 in the seventh inning. With a runner on second and third and one out, Nichole Eckhardt would come on to get the final two outs of the game. Eckhardt struck out the first batter she faced on three pitches.
Haley Berube would then make an outstanding diving catch to give the Marauders a 2-1 victory.

NSU grabbed a 2-0 lead after scoring a run in the fourth and fifth innings. The Marauders rallied in the sixth inning when
Haley Berube doubled to right field to score
Eryn De Jonge. UMary then took the lead after
Devyn Ritz reached on a throwing error by the shortstop, scoring
Sariah Perez and Berube.
Emari Evans was able to shut down the Wolves in the seventh inning, securing a 3-2 win for the Marauders.

The Marauders return home to compete against Minnesota State University – Mankato on Saturday, April 30, at the UMary softball field.
