ST. CLOUD, MN – After competing in two close games, The University of Mary softball team (2-24, 0-6 Northern Sun) was defeated in a doubleheader by St. Cloud State University (16-9, 4-0 NSIC).

UMary took the lead in the first inning after
Kaylee Kannegiesser hit a sacrifice bunt which scored
Avery Dome.
The Marauders scored three runs in the second inning.
Rachael Laetsch hit a sac fly to center field, scoring
Devyn Ritz.
Brooke McClure came home to score after
Eryn De Jonge singled to right field.
Avery Dome then hit a single to center field, bringing home
Mckenzie Reinhardt.
SCSU made the score 4-3 after scoring three runs in the fourth inning.
Brooke McClure extended UMary's lead in the top of the fifth inning to 5-3 after she singled to center field to score
Sariah Perez.
PIVOT POINT
The Huskies tied the game up at 5-5 as they scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. SCSU brought home three runs in the sixth inning and took an 8-5 lead. The Marauders got the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning but failed to even the score, losing 8-5 to the Huskies.

Pitching was the story of game two between UMary and SCSU. The Marauders grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning after
Haley Berube scored on an error by the pitcher.
Brooke McClure added to the UMary lead in the sixth inning after she singled to center field, scoring Berube.
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning. SCSU put two runners on with one out when Gabrielle Nelson hit a walk-off three-run home run to win the game for the Huskies.
