BRANDON, SD –
Noah Hull crushed a game-winning walk off blast in the opener and the University of Mary tied a single game school record for home runs in the second contest as the Marauders claimed their first Northern Sun doubleheader sweep of the season. In a series presciently moved to Brandon, SD, from Bismarck, ND, due to the inclement weather enveloping the UMary home field, the Marauders captured the opener 8-7 before hitting six home runs in a 9-6 victory to close out the day.
Now with three straight wins, the Marauders improved to 13-18 overall and 5-11 in the Northern Sun. The Cougars are 17-18 and 9-11.

In a back and forth battle featuring four ties and four lead changes, the Marauders finished on top of the Cougars when
Noah Hull led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run to give UMary an 8-7 walkoff win.
The home team due to a site reversal, the Marauders trailed 2-0 after the top of the first inning. UMary wasted no time pulling even.
Michael Polson hit a leadoff triple to center and scored on a wild pitch.
Calvin James followed shortly with a solo home run over the right field fence.
Down 5-2 after USF posted three runs in the second, UMary scored once in the bottom of the inning before scoring three times in the third. James doubled to center to lead off the inning and scored on a
Derek Shoen double to left. Shoen scored on an error to tie the game before
Krece Papierski came home on a
James Martin sacrifice fly, giving UMary its first lead of the day at 6-5.
After the Cougars tied the game at 6-6 in the fifth, the Marauders regained their advantage in the bottom of the inning on a
Kendall Keller sacrifice fly scoring Shoen.
PIVOT POINT
Down one run with two outs in the 7
th inning, the Cougars Trey Hubers singled to right field to score Connor King from second base and pull the Cougars into a 7-7 tie. The Marauders wasted no time in claiming the win. Leading off the bottom of the 7
th, Hull drove a 1-2 pitch over the right field wall for the victory.

Krece Papierski threw out three would-be base stealers to tie the Marauders NCAA era single game record. Papierski gunned down three attempted base stealers in the Marauders first game on Saturday against Upper Iowa. Sam Ingemansen threw out three base stealers against Mayville State in 2014 and Sean Hennan did the same against Sioux Falls in 2015.
GAME TWO | Marauders 9 Cougars 6
Kendall Keller blasted two of the Marauders six home runs as UMary overcame an early deficit to bludgeon the Cougars into submission. The Marauders recorded 14 hits in the game with seven going for extra bases. Joining Keller in the home run parade was
Derek Shoen,
Noah Hull,
James Martin and
Dakota Finley. The six home runs matched the school record set at Upper Iowa University in May 2007.
Keller finished the game with three hits in four plate appearances, three runs scored and two RBIs. Officially the Cougars retired Keller just once on the day. He did not have an at bat in the first game as he walked twice and had a sacrifice fly in three times at he plate, scoring once and driving in a run.
Michael Polson and Martin also had three hits in the game and
Kyle Jameson added two.
Down two runs early, the Marauders broke through in the third when Jameson singled to center to score Martin. UMary jumped in front 5-2 in the fourth on 2-run home runs by both Hull and Finley. Responding to a USF run in the fifth, Shoen hit a solo run in the bottom of the inning. Keller and Martin both hit blasts over the right field wall in the sixth to push the Marauders advantage to 8-3. Keller finished the Marauders day with a solo shot to right for the final run of the game.
Ty Jones pitched the first five innings for the Marauders, allowing three runs while striking out five to earn the win. Shoen retired the last six Cougar hitters of the game to earn his first save of the season.
PIVOT POINT
After the Cougars pulled within 5-3 in the 5
th inning, the Marauders bats took control of the game. Shoen tied the Marauders NCAA era home run record of 11 with a solo shot in the 5
th inning. Keller and Martin then both homered in the sixth to give the Marauders a 5-run lead at 8-3, their largest advantage of the game.
