JAN PHYL VILLAGE, FL – The University of Mary softball team (2-16) earned their second win of the season with a 10-3 victory over Nyack College. The Marauders lost the first game of the doubleheader as they were defeated 6-2 by East Stroudsburg University.

ESU opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the third inning. The bottom of the third inning saw Ariana Retuta get UMary on the board as she bunted home Kennedy Cowart.
Madison Wszolek cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning after she scored on a fielding error by the Warrior's third baseman. ESU capped off the game with a two-run seventh inning, giving the Warriors a 6-2 win.

UMary fell behind early as NC took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Madison Wszolek tied the game up at 2-2 after she hit a two-run homer, scoring Mckenzie Reinhardt.
The Marauders took a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Erin Murphy scored after Ariana Retuta reached on a fielder's choice. Kaylee Kannegiesser then hit a sacrifice fly to left field, which brought home Natasha Stubbs. The Warriors responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
UMary took a 9-3 lead as the Marauders busted the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Kennedy Cowart singled to right field, bringing home Reinhardt. Retuta then hit a double to left field, which scored Murphy and Brooke De Jonge. Kannegiesser wrapped up the scoring with a single to center as Retuta and Stubbs came home to score.
The Marauders scored their tenth run in the seventh inning, with Brooke McClure scoring on a wild pitch. Nicole Eckhardt earned her first win of the season. Eckhardt pitched seven innings and allowed three runs while striking out two batters.
