ORLANDO, FL – The University of Mary tennis team (6-4, 5-1 Northern Sun) wrapped up their 2022 Spring Break games with a 5-2 defeat to Southern New Hampshire University (10-2).
"We played a consistent opponent who came up with good shots in singles. My athletes competed with great effort but came up short," UMary head coach
Vida Saliendra said.
The Marauders earned a point after winning two out of their three doubles matches.
Chloe Chong and
Ilona Freitag took home the victory in number one doubles 6-2.
Doaa Farouk Mohamed and
Emily Needham fell in number two doubles 1-6.
Heidi Jacobson and
Callie McDonald came up big in number three doubles, winning 7-5.
Chong fell in number one singles to Natalie Kallmunzerov 6-3, 6-4.
Freitag lost a close match against Magdalena Hubickova 7-5, 6-2 in number two singles.
Mohamed got back to her winning way as she defeated Alexxa Etienne 7-6, 7-6, in number three singles.
In number four singles, Needham was defeated by Isabella Andrade 6-2, 6-4.
Jacobson fell short 6-2, 6-2 in number five singles against Guntra Upeniece
McDonald wrapped up the day for UMary as she lost to Elizabeth Dwyer 6-0, 6-2 in number six singles.
