MINOT, ND – Saria Perez drove in three runs as the University of Mary softball team (0-4) fell 13-6 to Dakota Wesleyan University (1-2).
The Marauders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Perez kicked off the scoring with a single to left field, scoring
Haley Berube.
Madison Wszolek would then double to left field, which brought home
Kennedy Cowart.
DWU would take control in the second inning as the Tigers scored four runs. Perez would cut the lead to 4-3 after hitting a sacrifice fly in the third inning which scored Berube.
The Tigers would tack on two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, giving DWU a 6-3 lead. The Marauders would add on a run of their own as Perez walked with the bases loaded, scoring
Eryn De Jonge.
PIVOT POINT
DWU exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning, which gave the Tigers a 13-4 lead late in the game. UMary attempted a comeback after
Eryn De Jonge tripled to right field, bringing home
Brooke McClure. Berube then singled to the shortstop, which scored De Jonge and cut the lead to 13-6. The Marauders would fail to add on more runs and would lose 13-6 to DWU.
