BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's basketball team (13-15, 7-12 Northern Sun) clinched an NSIC postseason berth after defeating Northern State University (12-14, 9-12 NSIC) 92-69.
Lexie Schneider and
Macy Williams combined for 49 points and 13 assists.
The first quarter was competitive as the Marauders edged out the Wolves to take an 18-16 lead. UMary exploded for 26 points in the second quarter and took a 44-31 lead going halftime. The Marauders shot 71.43% in the second quarter, while the Wolves shot 35.29%.
UMary kept the momentum going in the third quarter, outscoring NSU 23-16. The Marauders offense kept firing in the fourth quarter as they scored 25 points and took home the 92-69 victory. UMary shot 69.23% in the final quarter.
In her final home game as a Marauder,
Macy Williams scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Williams also dished out a season-high nine assists.
Lexie Schneider led the team in scoring with 26 points while also bringing down seven rebounds. Schneider shot 11-of-15 from the field and posted four assists.
Ryleigh Wacha had a great all-around game as the freshman put up 17 points, eight rebounds while blocking three shots.
The Marauders outrebounded the Wolves 38-34. UMary committed nine turnovers, while NSU had 11 giveaways.
The Marauders shot 60.3% from the field, shooting 47.4% from behind the arc while going 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. The Dragons shot 37.7% from the field, shooting 42.9% from three while going 11-of-17 from the charity stripe.
