ABERDEEN, SD – Unable to get untracked offensively, the University of Mary men's basketball team dropped their first game of the season after opening their schedule with four straight wins. The Marauders fell behind early and never recovered in a 79-60 loss at Northern State University.
UMary slips to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Northern Sun play. The four straight wins to open the season was the most since UMary started the 2010-11 season with five consecutive wins. Northern State improves to 6-2/2-0.
The Wolves scored first and never trailed in the game, building an early 29-8 lead. With five different Marauders scoring buckets UMary responded with an 11-0 run to close within 10 points. It would be as close as UMary would come the rest of the night.
The Marauders outscored the Wolves in the paint 36-26 but UMary was unable to counter the barrage of treys from Northern State. The Wolves were 15-of-36 behind the arc while the Marauders finished 4-of-16 on treys.

Zyon Smith contributed 13 points and two assists.
