BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball started their final home weekend series of the 2022 season with a bang on Friday night. UMary defeated the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 25-11) in a match where the Marauders dominated offensively with four attackers striking double-digit kills.

Isenbart sparked a 5-point run for the Marauders (5-20, 4-13 NSIC) and they retained the momentum to close out a 25-20 set victory. Set two began similarly with the Marauders and Golden Eagles (4-21, 3-14 NSIC) battling closely, but Minnesota Crookston was able to mount a small lead thanks to a strong offensive showing by Charlee Krieg. Set two belonged to UM Crookston 25-20 to even the matchup at a set a piece.
The Golden Eagles started the third set of the night with a 5-1 lead, but the momentum quickly shifted in favor of the Marauders as the set carried on.
Maddie Cooper and Ally Gruber highlighted an impressive 7-0 run through the middle of the set that helped carry the Marauders to a 25-17 set victory and get back out front in the match advantage.
Set four was all UMary as they closed the matchup with a definitive 25-11 set victory. The Marauders dominated the Golden Eagles in multiple categories, outhitting Crookston 0.308 to 0.130 and edging them in kills 57-40. The Marauders finished another season sweep of an NSIC foe with tonight's victory over Minnesota Crookston. This is the second opponent UMary has swept on the season this week following their 3-1 victory over Minot State on Tuesday.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Nehkyah Ellis was phenomenal Friday night, leading the Marauders with a season-high 17 kills and a 0.452 hitting percentage. Ellis also contributed six digs, a pair of blocks, and an ace serve.
- Reyna Isenbart was very effective on the attack with 10 kills while hitting an outstanding 0.474%. Isenbart also stood out at the net with four blocks.
- Ally Gruber turned in the finest performance of her first year as a Marauder Friday night. The junior from Belgrade, MN, had a double-double with 10 kills (0.258 hitting percentage) and 12 digs.
- Maddie Cooper had another solid night offensively as she was the fourth Marauder with double-digit kills handing in 10.
- Maddy Freed played a major factor in the Marauders offensive successes by dishing out 45 assists. This mark is second to her highest total on the season of 47, which also came against Minnesota Crookston on September 17th.

The University of Mary volleyball team looks to rectify an earlier loss to Bemidji State University (4-21, 3-14 NSIC) when the Beavers come into the MAC for a 2 pm matchup on Saturday, Oct. 29. The last home match for Marauders volleyball will be a "2022 Campers Day" for which kids grades K-8 receive free admission.
