Marauders conclude weekend sweep with 3-1 win over Beavers in '22 home finale

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball team closed out the home schedule with a second emphatic victory of the weekend on Saturday afternoon. Behind strong efforts by Nehkyah Ellis and Kaia Sueker, the Marauders rectified an earlier season loss to Bemidji State by defeating the Beavers 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 16-25, 25-20).

The Marauders (6-20, 5-13 NSIC) handily took set number one 25-15 thanks to Ellis leading the attack with six kills and the Marauders stacking three lengthy runs to build a comfortable lead. The Beavers (4-22, 3-15 NSIC) showed life by getting out to an early 6-4 lead, but the momentum quickly shifted as the Marauders dominated the second set by immediately answering with a 14-1 run. Thanks to continued success at the net and from the service line, the Marauders took the second set of the match, 25-14.

On the ropes, Bemidji State quickly built a lead early in the third set which they held onto for the remainder, extending the match with a set victory 25-16. The Beavers were poised to do the same in set 4, but the Marauders took advantage of a handful of errors to pull ahead, and would later put a defiant end to the set 25-20 and the match with kills from Reyna Isenbart and Maddie Cooper.
