THIS WEEK
Top-ranked University of Mary returns to the ice for the first time in four weeks when the Marauders heads to Montana for a pair of games. UMary opens the 2022 portion of the schedule at the University of Providence on Friday, Jan. 7. Face off is set for 8 pm CST/7 pm MT at the Great Falls (MT) Ice Plex. The weekend concludes at Montana State University on Saturday, Jan. 8. Game time is 8:30 pm CST / 7:30 pm MT from the Ressler Ice Rink in Bozeman, MT.   
 
ROAD TRIP
The Marauders play their first seven games of 2022 on the road.
 
ANTICIPATION
UMary next plays at home on January 28 when the Marauders host Montana State University, starting a string of playing six out of seven contests at the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink.

The Marauders are 20-4-1-2 (W-L-OTL-T) on the season… UMary is 8-1-1 at home, 9-3-0-2 on the road and 3-0-0-0 on neutral ice… Against ACHA M2 squads the Marauders are 19-2-0-2.
 
MARAUDERS REMAIN #1
The Marauders remained atop the final American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division 2 rankings of the fall 2021 semester. The defending ACHA M2 champions has ranked first in all five polls released this season.

The Marauders 15-game unbeaten string earlier this season is tied for the second-longest in program history. UMary has 13 wins and two ties in the run… the streak began with 11 straight wins (2^nd longest win streak)… The Marauders longest unbeaten streak is 16 games in 2020-21… UMary also had a 15-game unbeaten streak in 2018-19.
 
TEDDY BEAR TOSS
Marauders hockey and the Community Action Backpack for Kids Program donated stuffed animals collected during the annual Teddy Bear Toss to children throughout the area during the holiday season. UMary hockey scholar-athletes delivered several of the toys in person with stops at Bismarck's Head Start Program and at Theodore Jamerson Elementary School. Stuffed animals were also distributed through the Backpack for Kids program to make the Christmas season a little more merry for many children.

LEADING THE PACK
To no surprise, Marauders all-time leading scorer Alex Flicek leads UMary in points (33) and assists (19) and is second in goals (14)… Seth Cushing leads UMary in goals (15), is second in points (32) and 4^th in assists (17)… Zach Garrett is third in points (30), assists (18) and goals (12)... Garrett Freeman and Marshall Tschida are tied for 4^th in points (25). Freeman has 11 goals and Moore has 10… Kyler Moore ranks sixth on the Marauders in points with 23. He has 11 goals and 12 helpers.
 
BRICK WALL
The trio of Marauders netminders are each having incredible seasons. All-American Kyle Hayden is 13-3-0-2 with three shutouts, a 2.01 goals against average and a .922 save percentage… Conan Hayton is 5-1-1-0 with a 2.05 GAA and a .915 save percentage… Quinn Ackerman owns a record of 2-0-0-0 with a 0.71 GAA and a .965 save percentage… overall the UMary goalkeepers own six shutouts with a 1.88 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

Zach Garrett joined Alex Flicek this season as the only two Marauders who have produced 200 points in their UMary careers.
 
IRON MEN
In the fourth season as a program since first taking to the ice in Sept. 2018, the Marauders have played 173 games. Defensive partners Marshall Tschida and Drew Lenertz have played in every game.
 
TIMING
11 Marauders have game-winning goals this season with Seth Cushing (4), Zach Garrett (3) and Garrett Freeman (3) leading the way… Connor Hanson has had impressive timing on his goals as two of his three counters are game-winners… Kyler Moore and Alex Flicek both own two game winning goals to give the Marauders six skaters with multiple game-winning goals.

Head coach Dan Huntley is the two-time ACHA M2 Coach of the Year (2020, 2021)… Zach Garrett is the 2021 ACHA M2 Player of the Year… Garrett, Johnny Witzke and Kyle Hayden were named to the 2021 All-American Team… UMary was named the 2021 NDAPSSA non-school Team of the Year in 2021.
