Macy Williams moved to second all-time in assists in the University of Mary women's basketball team (11-13, 5-10 Northern Sun) first conference win over Upper Iowa University (5-16, 2-12 NSIC) 73-60. Williams scored 15 points while dishing out six assists. She now has 441 career assists surpassing Renae Amundson, who had 438.
The Marauders were able to edge out the Peacocks in the first quarter, taking a 13-11 lead. UMary expanded their lead over UIU to ten points heading into halftime.
The third quarter would see the Marauders maintain their advantage over the Peacocks, leading 48-39 going into the final quarter. UMary closed out the game strong as they would score 25 points and win the game 73-60.
Megan Voit dropped 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. Voit shot 7-of-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from behind the arc.
Ryleigh Wacha posted a double-double after the freshman put up a career-high 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Lexie Schneider brought down nine rebounds while scoring five points and getting three steals.
The Marauders outrebounded the Peacocks 45-28. UMary would lose the turnover battle committing 14 turnovers, while UIU lost the ball over 11 times.
The Marauders shot 42.6% from the field, shooting 50% from behind the arc while going 20-of-29 from the charity stripe. The Peacocks shot 30.9% from the field, shooting 20.8% from three while going 13-of-20 from the free-throw line.
