BISMARCK, ND – Three Marauders reached double digits in scoring as the University of Mary women's basketball team (10-11, 4-8 Northern Sun) fell 79-58 to Concordia University, St. Paul (11-5, 7-5 NSIC).
CSP jumped out to a hot start and led UMary 18-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Bears would grow their lead to 40-23 over the Marauders going into halftime.
UMary surged back into the game in the third quarter, outscoring CSP 21-15. UMary shot 47.06% from the field in the quarter and 50% from three. The Marauders comeback fell short in the final quarter as the Golden Bears pulled away down the stretch.
Lexie Schneider led the team in both scoring and rebounding. The senior scored 14 points and brought down seven rebounds.
Megan Voit continued her great shooting from behind the arc, knocking down four threes to give her 12 points on the night.
Ryleigh Wacha scored 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting while grabbing six boards.
Moriku Hakim and six points off the bench, shooting 3-of-4 from the field.
The Marauders were outrebounded by the Golden Bears 41-31. Turnovers were an issue for UMary as the Marauders would lose the ball 22 times compared to CSP's 14 turnovers.
The Marauders shot 37.9% from the field, shooting 35% from behind the arc while going 7-of-12 from the charity stripe. The Golden Bears shot 45.1% from the field, shooting 25% from three while going 5-of-11 from the free-throw line.
