Voit's career-high 24 points not enough as UMary falls 83-75 to AU

BISMARCK, ND – Despite Megan Voit scoring a career-high 24 points, the University of Mary women's basketball team (10-10, 4-7 Northern Sun) suffered their first defeat at home, falling 83-75 to Augustana University (9-5, 5-5 NSIC).

The first quarter was a high-scoring affair as UMary would trail AU 23-20. The Marauders would rally back in the next quarter, tying the game at 35-35 going into halftime.

The Vikings would gain control in the third quarter, outscoring UMary 23-15. The Marauders would attempt to rally back in the final quarter but fell short, losing 83-75 to AU.

Megan Voit had the best scoring performance in her collegiate career thus far. She scored 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field while dishing out five assists. Lexie Schneider returned to the UMary lineup as the senior scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Ryleigh Wacha contributed 12 points and five assists on 4-of-9 shooting. Carly Kottsick scored nine points and brought down six rebounds.

The Marauders struggled on the boards as the Vikings outrebounded UMary 46-35. UMary had 13 turnovers while AU turned it over 11 times.

The Marauders shot 40.6% from the field, shooting 31% from three while going 14-of-20 from the free-throw line. The Vikings shot 45.1% from the field, shooting 25% from behind the arc while going 13-of-16 from the charity stripe.
