MANKATO, MN – The University of Mary volleyball team came up short in their Northern Sun season opener as UMary (2-7, 0-1 NSIC) would fall to Minnesota State University – Mankato (6-3, 1-0 NSIC).
"We battled in some great ways tonight; we need to work to stay consistent across the board. I have no doubt we can learn from this and continue to build in the direction we want to go," head coach

The first set was a close contest, with the Mavericks taking it down 25-22. MSU would continue their momentum as the Mavericks would win the second set 25-17. The Marauders held a 19-18 lead in the third set before MSU won seven out of the next nine points, giving the Mavericks a 25-21 set win.

Nehkyah Ellis had a team-high 12 kills while also recording seven digs
Kameron Selvig contributed 14 assists and three aces
Kaia Sueker finished with a team-high 20 digs
Natalia Cruz had 16 digs while earning six kills
