MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – In a battle between the top two teams in the nation, Kyle Hayden backstopped the top-ranked University of Mary to a 1-1 draw against #2 Liberty University on the second day of the Lindenwood Showcase. Hayden turned away 29 shots in the game, including four in overtime.
 
The Marauders remain undefeated this season in four meetings with the Flames. UMary picked up two wins and a tie earlier this season at Liberty before picking up a second tie today.
 
UMary improves to 28-2-5-1 (W-L-T-OTL) this season overall, including a mark of 25-1-4-0 against teams ranked in the current ACHA M2 poll.
 
The Marauders opened the scoring early in the first period. Jumping on a rebound after a long shot by Johnny Witzke, Andrew Huber knocked the loose puck into the net for his 17^th goal of the season just 3:15 into the game. Alex Flicek picked up the secondary assist on the goal.
 
Hayden made the Huber goal stand up until over halfway into the third period when Blake Flanders rifled a shot into the net at 13:54 to pull Liberty even at 1-1.
 
UMary pumped 24 shots on net in the third alone in an effort to get the win but the Marauders were unable to get a puck past Flames goaltender Dakota Cyhaniuk. For the game the Marauders fired off 47 shots to 30 for the Flames.
 
In overtime Liberty held a 4-2 edge in shots but Hayden stood strong to remain undefeated this season in regulation, improving to 13-0-4-1 (W-L-T-OTL). Additionally Hayden is now the Marauders career leader in saves with 1,035, surpassing Lance Knutson's total of 1,011.
 
After taking a day off, the Marauders return to the ice on Sunday, March 7, in a rematch against host Lindenwood University. The Marauders opened the Showcase with a 4-3 overtime win over the #3 Lions on Thursday. The puck is set to drop at 10:02 AM.
