Late goals haunt Marauders in loss to Yellowjackets

MINOT, ND – Playing a third straight game indoors to start a unique spring season, the University of Mary women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Montana State University Billings. The Yellowjackets broke the game open late with two goals in the final nine minutes of play.

Playing inside the Air-Supported Dome in Minot, ND, the Yellowjackets controlled play early and struck first when Jordan Roe placed the ball in the lower left side of the net in the 21st minute on the third shot of the game, all by MSU Billings.

UMary made a push to pull even with a couple scoring attempts around the 34th minute but a shot by Emma Davies sailed high and Kayla Alcott's shot to the low left side of the net was stopped.

The Marauders had a couple attempts off set pieces to pull even in the second half but was unable to convert. Alcott managed a shot off a corner kick serve in the 48th minute and Cassidy Pierce had a look in the 74th minute but neither could connect.

The Yellowjackets sealed their win with goals in the 82nd and 88th minute, the second coming on a penalty kick.

MSU Billings held an 11-5 edge in shots and a 5-2 advantage in shots on frame. Both teams had a pair of corner kicks.
