UMary Completes Sweep Over Minot To Finish Off Season

MINOT, ND – The University of Mary women's basketball team completed the sweep over Minot State University, winning 73-67. 

The Marauders dominated the first quarter as they led the Beavers after one. Lauren Rotunda hit a half-court shot at the buzzer to end the first quarter. MSU cut the lead in half in the second quarter as UMary's lead was 33-30.

The Marauders extended their lead in the third quarter to 54-45 as they would score 21 points in the quarter. UMary's lead in the fourth quarter would get as big as 12 points with 3:10 left in the game. BSU would chip away at the lead but the Marauders got the victory 73-67.

In her last game as a Marauder, Lauren Rotunda dropped 26 points with five rebounds as the senior played all 40 minutes. She finishes her career at UMary tied for 11th in scoring (1,293), 2nd in steals (143), 12th in assists (299), 7th in rebounding (683) and 7th in blocks (67).

Junior forward Lexie Schneider earned her seventh double-double of the season as she had 13 points to go along with 12 boards. Schneider did most of her scoring at the free-throw line going 7-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Sophomore guard Megan Voit had her third straight double-digit scoring game as she had 11 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Macy Williams, the NSIC assist leader, had nine points and three assists. Senior guard Coral Gillette had six points hitting both of her three-point shots.

UMary won the turnover battle to MSU 19-15. The Marauders lost the rebounding battle as UMary had 31 whereas the Beavers had 35.

The Marauders shot 41.1% from the field, shooting 44.4% from three and going 19-of-24 from the charity stripe. The Beavers shot 42.2% from the field, shooting 8.3% from behind the arc while going 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.
