UMary edges Minot State behind big nights from Schneider, Rotunda

FARGO, ND – The University of Mary women's basketball team had four double-digit scorers as the Marauders were victorious over Minot State University 68-64.

The Marauders got off to a good start in the first quarter as they led 18-14. UMary was able to maintain the lead in the second quarter over MSU as the Marauders went into halftime with a 40-36 lead.

In the third quarter, MSU cut the lead down to three points at 55-42. The Marauders got off to a great start in the fourth quarter and built a 67-56 advantage with 1:46 remaining in the game. The Beavers went on an 8-1 run to end the game but the Marauders took home the win 68-64.

Junior forward Lexie Schneider had a great game down low as she had 21 points, 15 rebounds and four steals. Senior Lauren Rotunda had 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go along with six rebounds.

Senior guard Macy Williams, who leads the NSIC in assists, had 10 points and dished out four assists. Sophomore guard Megan Voit had 12 points on 50% shooting.

UMary won the turnover battle as MSU had 20 turnovers whereas the Marauders had 14. The Marauders lost the rebounding battle 40-31 to the Beavers.

The Marauders shot 42.2% from the field, shooting 16.7% from behind the arc and going 11-of-16 from the charity stripe. The Dragons shot 42.2% from the field, shooting 18.8% from three and going 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.

UMary (4-9, 4-7 in the NSIC) returns to play their final game of the 2020-21 season at Minot State University (4-9, 4-7 in the NSIC) on Saturday, February 20, at 2 pm.
