BISMARCK, ND – After a close and exciting contest, the University of Mary women's basketball team (6-5, 1-2 Northern Sun) would fall short on the road losing 66-59 to Northern State University (5-3, 2-1 NSIC).
NSU offense would start off hot, with the Wolves earning a 26-17 lead in the first quarter. The Marauders would rally back in the second quarter as they would hold the Wolves to 11 points. UMary would trail NSU 37-36, heading into halftime.
The Marauders kept the momentum going in the third quarter. UMary's defense continued to give the Wolves problems as NSU scored 10 points in the quarter as the Marauders held a 55-47 lead.
UMary's offense would go quiet in the final quarter, scoring only four points. The Wolves would capitalize, outscoring the Marauders 19-4 and take the 66-59 win.
Ryleigh Wacha had a team-high 10 rebounds while scoring nine points.
Megan Voit led the team in scoring with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting from three.
Lexie Schneider would contribute six points while earning six rebounds and two blocks.
The Marauders were outrebounded by the Wolves 50-41. UMary turned the ball over 16 times while NSU had 10 turnovers.
The Marauders shot 38.1% from the field, shooting 36.4% from behind the arc and went 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. The Wolves shot 34.2% from the field, shooting 20% from three while going 13-of-15 from the charity stripe.
