ST. CLOUD, MN – Despite great performances from
Megan Zander and
Megan Voit the University of Mary women's basketball team (6-6, 1-3 Northern Sun) fell in their road contest 79-70 to St. Cloud State University (6-1, 4-0 NSIC).
The first quarter was competitive as the Huskies would take a 15-12 lead. UMary continued to battle in the second quarter but was unable able to cut into SCSU's lead, with the Huskies leading 33-26 going into halftime.
The Marauders would fall behind double digits in the third quarter as the Huskies would outscore UMary 57-45. UMary's offense attempted to rally against SCSU with the Marauders scoring 25 points. The comeback would fall short as the Huskies would take the 79-70 victory.
Megan Voit had a brilliant game shooting from three, going 5-of-11 from behind the arc. Voit led the Marauders in scoring with 18 points.
Megan Zander had 17 points on 5-of-12 shooting while also grabbing four rebounds.
Macy Williams had 12 points and five assists, shooting 5-of-8 from the field.
The Marauders struggled on the glass as they were outrebounded by the Huskies 38-25. UMary won the turnover battle over SCSU 20-15.
The Marauders shot 38.6% from the field, shooting 47.8% from three and went 15-of-14 from the charity stripe. The Huskies shot 54.9% from the field, shooting 47.6% from behind the arc while going 13-of-17 from the free-throw line.
