BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's basketball team (9-7, 3-4 Northern Sun) scored a season-high 99 points in their 99-47 victory over Valley City State University. Thirteen Marauders found their way on the scoresheet, with six of them scoring eight points or more.
UMary hit the ground running in the first quarter, outscoring VSCU 24-10. The second quarter was more competitive, with the Marauders taking a 50-32 lead going into halftime.
UMary showed their dominance in the third quarter as the Marauders outscored the Vikings 28-3. UMary's defense held VSCU to 0-of-11 shooting from the field in the quarter while the Marauders shot 50%. UMary closed out the game strong and cruised to a 99-47 win.
Megan Zander had an efficient game from the field as she shot 6-of-7 for the game, shooting a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc.
Lexie Schneider had 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while also grabbing five rebounds.
Macy Williams had nine points and four assists. Williams is now third in all-time assists with 418 as she surpassed Jessica Zundel, who had 415 total.
Ryleigh Wacha had 10 points and five rebounds.
Megan Voit scored nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from three.
The Marauders were dominant on the glass, winning the rebounding battle over the Vikings 46-34. UMary won the turnover battle as the Marauders had nine turnovers while VSCU had 17. UMary had a season-high six blocks against the Vikings.
The Marauders shot 54.4% from the field, shooting 62.5% from behind the arc and went 10-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Vikings shot 27.1% from the field, shooting 29.2% from three while going 8-of-15 from the charity stripe.
