Williams scores her 1,000th career point as Schneider's late bucket secures UMary 74-73 win over UMC

BISMARCK, ND –It was a historic night for the University of Mary women's basketball team (8-7, 3-4 Northern Sun) as Macy Williams scored her 1,000-career point in the Marauders come from behind win over the University of Minnesota Crookston (1-12, 0-7 NSIC). UMary would win 74-73, with Lexie Schneider scoring the game-winning basket with four seconds left to play in the game. The Marauders improve to 5-0 at home for the season.

UMary trailed UMC 21-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Eagles would extend their lead to eight points going into halftime.

The Marauders trailed by as many as 15 points in the third quarter before UMary would go on a 15-4 run to cut UMC's lead to 53-51. The fourth quarter went back and forth, with neither team being able to take control of the game.

With the Marauders trailing by one point with 27 seconds left, Lexie Schneider went to work in the post and scored the go-ahead basket with four seconds remaining in the game. The Golden Eagles would miss a buzzer-beating shot, securing a UMary 74-73 win.

Lexie Schneider had a monster game as she finished with a double-double scoring 21 points and grabbing 15 boards. Macy Williams had 15 points and dished out four assists on her historic day.

Megan Voit would score 12 points while earning three assists and two steals. Ryleigh Wacha scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting and brought down seven rebounds.

The Marauders edged out the rebounding battle over the Golden Eagles 40-38. UMary would lose the turnover battle, with the Marauders turning the ball over 12 times while UMC had 11.

The Marauders shot 44.9% from the field, shooting 27.8% from three and went 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles shot 40.3% from the field, shooting 36.4% from behind the arc while going 15-of-24 from the free-throw line.
