EDMOND, OK –
Macy Williams had 17 points and four assists in the University of Mary women's basketball team (2-3) close 66-62 loss to the University of Central Oklahoma (2-0).
UCO grabbed an early lead in the first quarter after outscoring UMary 22-17. The Marauders would come out strong in the second quarter and take a 36-34 lead going into halftime.
The third quarter was a battle of the defenses as both teams struggled to score. The Bronchos would hold a 48-47 lead heading into the final quarter.
UCO held a six-point lead in the fourth quarter with about 1:30 remaining in the game. The Marauders were able to tie the game up at 62-62 with 51 seconds remaining.
The Bronchos were able to regain the lead after a made layup by Alayzha Knapp. After UMary failed to convert on the other end, UCO would finish the game off by making two free throws and earn the 66-62 win.
Megan Voit had 13 points after going 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
Ryleigh Wacha had 10 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Lexie Schneider led the team in rebounds with 11 while dishing out three assists.
Megan Zander had seven points and six rebounds.
The Marauders and Bronchos were even on the glass as both teams had 41 rebounds. UMary had 22 turnovers while OCU had 17.
The Marauders shot 38.5% from the field, shooting 33.3% from behind the arc and going 18-of-25 from the charity stripe. The Bronchos shot 37.1% from the field, shooting 11.1% from three while going 12-of-17 from the free-throw line.
