irdBISMARCK, ND – A great all-around team performance saw the University of Mary women's basketball team win their home opener against Concordia College 75-42 in an exhibition.
The first quarter was close as both teams struggled with their offense. UMary would finish the quarter up 12-10. The Marauders offense was explosive in the second quarter as they scored 27 points, giving UMary 39-22 lead going into halftime.
The Marauders defense was the story in the third quarter as UMary held Concordia to six points. UMary held a 60-28 lead after three.
UMary continued their great play in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cobbers 15-14, giving the Marauders a 75-42 win.
Lexie Schneider had 10 points and seven rebounds in just 17 minutes of action.
Cadee Ryckman scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting in nine minutes of action.
The Marauders had 16 student-athletes get on the scoresheet in tonight's game.
UMary won the turnover battle over Concordia 17-11. The Marauders won the rebounding battle as UMary had 49, whereas the Cobbers had 30.
The Marauders shot 38.2% from the field, shooting 41.9% from three and going 10-of-19 from the charity stripe. The Cobbers shot 33.3% from the field, shooting 20% from behind the arc while going 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The Marauders open the regular season against Kutztown University on Friday, November 5, as they take part in the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at the Trailhead hosted by MSU Billings at Billings, MT.
