Marshall, MN – The University of Mary volleyball team (3-15, 0-9 Northern Sun) finished off their weekend road trip with a loss to #11 Southwest Minnesota State University (15-2, 7-2 NSIC).
SMSU came out dominant in the first set, winning 25-12 over UMary. The Marauders competed better in the second set but couldn't handle the Mustangs high-powered attack as SMSU won 25-16.
UMary got off to a hot start in the third set as they opened to an 8-4 lead. The Marauders showed great determination but fell to the Mustangs 25-20.
"We continue to progress each match and each week. We challenged the team in multiple ways and they stepped up to the challenges against a nationally ranked program," said head coach
Abby Pollart.

Bailey Harms led the team in blocks with four while also earning five kills
Nehkyah Ellis had six kills and five digs
Kameron Selvig was the team leader in assists with 15
Kaia Sueker led the team in digs with 14

Kayla Lewinski led the team with eight kills while posting a hitting percentage of .421. Lewinksi also had three blocks and two digs.

The Marauders hit the road again as UMary travels to St. Cloud, MN, to take on St. Cloud State University on Friday, October 15, at 6 pm. The Marauders then travel to Duluth, MN, to compete against the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. October 16, at 2 pm.
