BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary Swim team gets back in the water as they travel to Aberdeen, SD, and Sioux Falls, SD, on Friday and Saturday, January 15-16. The Marauders take on Northern State University on Friday at 5:30 pm. On Saturday, UMary competes against Augustana University and the University of Sioux Falls at 10:30 am and 4:30 pm.

The Marauders project to finish fifth in the NSIC according to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference coaches' preseason poll. UMary last year finished fifth in the NSIC Championships. Northern State finished seventh, while Augustana finished fourth and Sioux Falls finished third.

UMary had three swimmers qualify for the NCAA Championships before the meet was canceled after the second day due to COVID-19. All three swimmers (Victoria Murillo, Andrea Lee and Breena DeLegge) will return for this season.

Murillo was named the Marauders 2020-21 NSIC Swimmer to Watch. The 2019 NSIC Freshman of the Year and conference record-holder in the 500 yard free, Murillo earned a 29th place finish for the 200 free at the NCAA Division II Championships. The junior from Cancun, Mexico, is a 5-time NSIC champion. 

DeLegge broke the school record for her time of 23.75 seconds in the 50 free, finishing 34th at the NCAA Division II Championships.

A 5-time All-NSIC performer, Lee finished 27th for the 1000 free and 37th for the 200 free at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Head coach Leah Neiheisel looks to improve upon last season by bringing new additions to the roster. Freshmen Korie Riely (freestyle) and Madison Yonke (freestyle/backstroke) are projected to make a big impact in their first year at UMary.

The Marauders are scheduled to host their first home event on Saturday, January 23, at the BSC Aquatic & Fitness Center.
