Stellar Shooting By UMary Leads To Dominant Victory Over Winona State

BISMARCK, ND – A stellar shooting performance that featured seven first quarter three pointers propelled the Marauders to a 17-point victory over Winona State by a score of 82-65. UMary made a total of 11 three pointers on the game off 57.9 percent shooting from deep and 60.8 percent from the field. Gillette and Voit combined for eight buckets from deep with Gillette accounting for five. The Marauders set each other up for shots effectively, recording 22 assists on their 31 buckets. Lauren Rotunda led the way with 24 points. Cassie Askvig added a 17 point, 10 rebound double double to go along with four assists. Gillette went five for eight from deep for 15 points and six assists. Megan Voit rounded out the Marauders double digit scorers with 11 points.
  
With the win the Marauders improve to 17-10 overall and 11-7 in the Northern Sun. Winona State falls to 14-8 overall and 10-8 in conference play.
 
FIRST HALF BREAKDOWN
The first half was a high scoring affair with both teams shooting above 50 percent. The Marauders knocked down 70 percent of their shots from the floor and 67 percent from behind the arc to claim a 49-32 lead heading into the intermission. UMary made an astounding seven first quarter three pointers off of 78 percent shooting in the first quarter, accumulating a total of eight in the first half. Lauren Rotunda dropped 16 first half points. Coral Gillette added 12 points off of 4-of-5 shooting from deep to go along with her 4 assists. Macy Williams pitched in nine points with Megan Voit posting six.
 
SECOND HALF BREAKDOWN
The Marauders were able to maintain their 17-point lead throughout the entirety of the second half, winning the game by that amount. Cassie Askvig took over in the second half, dropping 13 of her 17 points. Lauren Rotunda added an additional eight. The Marauders stayed hot in the second half, making 47 percent of their shots from the field.
