Marauders Record Three Extra Base Hits In Losses To UMC, NSU

MINOT, ND – The University of Mary softball team posted four hits in each game today. A pair of hits by both Rebekkah Keller and Mikaela Pelesauma led the way for UMary. The Marauders posted three extra base hits with Keller posting a triple and Noble and Pelesauma adding doubles. UMary would lose to Minnesota Crookston 7-4 and Northern State 10-2.
 
With today's losses the Marauders fall to 2-5 on the season. UMC improves to 6-4 on the year and NSU moves to 5-0.
 
GAME 1 University of Mary 4 Minnesota Crookston 7
A big sixth inning by the Marauders allowed them to claim their first lead of the game by a score of 3-2. UMC responded by blasting in five runs in the bottom of the sixth, off of two homeruns to retake a 7-3 lead. The Marauders were able to add another run in the seventh but that was all they could muster up, falling to the Golden Eagles 7-4. Rebekkah Keller led the way for the Marauders with a pair of hits and a triple. Emma Noble and Mikaela Pelesauma both recorded doubles.
 
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning. UMC responded by hitting a homerun to even things up and then a grand slam to take a four-run lead.
 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Rebekkah Keller went 2-4 with a triple, RBI, and run scored
 
Mikaela Pelesauma went 1-4 with a double, RBI, run scored, and stolen base
 
Emma Noble went 1-3 with a double
 
Kaitlyn Alvarado had an RBI

Of the Marauders four hits, three were for extra bases. Keller had a triple with Pelesauma and Noble accounting for doubles.

GAME 2 UMary 2 Northern State 10
Four Marauders recorded UMary's four hits in the loss to Northern State. UMary posted their two runs in the sixth inning in an attempt to cut into the Wolves lead. UMary's runs came when Mariah Sanchez reached on an error and Madelynn Trout and Rachael Laetsch scored. NSU had five extra base hits that proved to be the difference in the game.
  
PIVOT POINT
NSU was able to remain consistent, scoring in every inning of play but three runs in the sixth inning put the game out of reach for UMary.

The Marauders will be back in action tomorrow, February 23 for a pair of games. UMary and Minot State will square off at 7:30 AM. The Marauders will follow that up with a game against MSU Billings at 11:30 AM.
