Busy Weekend Ahead For UMary Softball With Games Against Minot State, NSU, UMC, MSUB

MINOT, ND – The University of Mary softball team returns to action after three weeks off. They will battle four different teams over a two-day period at the Minot Dome Invitational. UMary will kick off their weekend against Minnesota Crookston at 12 PM on Saturday, February 22. They will immediately follow that up with a game against Northern State University at 2 PM. On Sunday, February 23 the Marauders take on Minot State at 7:30 AM and MSU Billings at 11:30 AM.
 
UMary started their season 2-3 at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas. After starting the season 0-3, the Marauders stormed back, winning their last two games over Simon Fraser University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
 
Freshman, Mikaela Pelesauma is leading the team with a batting average of .389. She also leads the team with seven hits. Kaitlyn Alvarado is right behind her with a .375 batting average and six hits on the season.
 
In total, six different UMary softball players have above a .300 batting average.
 
Haley Berube, Madelynn Trout, and Stephanie Alvarez all blasted homers down in Las Vegas. Berube, Laetsch, and Alvarado are all tied for the team lead in RBIs with four.
 
Rebekkah Keller started the season off with five stolen bases. She will be chasing down her career high of 24 stolen bases in a season that she set last season.
 
Northern State comes into the weekend with the best record of the Marauders opponents, beginning their season 4-0. Minot State and Minnesota Crookston both sit at .500 with 4-4 records while MSUB is just below .500 with a 5-6 record.
