BISMARCK, ND – In their most competitive match of the season, the University of Mary tennis team rose to the occasion and took down Bemidji State 4-3. The Marauders swept doubles play before earning wins in one, three, and four singles to seal the deal on the win. With the victory the Marauders improved to 4-0 on the season.
The pair of
Tasha Dembo and
Yusra Hegy earned the win at number one doubles by a score of 6-4
The duo of
Jamie Stoppler and
Danielle Wolf picked up the victory at number two doubles by a score of 6-4
Kali Askvig and
Kelsey Lajom earned the win in number three doubles with a 6-4 victory
Jamie Stoppler picked up the Marauders first singles win. She took down Hannah Peterson 6-1, 6-1 at number four singles.
Tasha Dembo followed that up with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ariadna Lopez at number one singles.
Kelsey Lajom clinched the win for UMary with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Brooke Mimmack at number three singles.
The Marauders will be back in action on February 22-23 in Winona, MN. UMary takes on Winona State at 12:30 on Saturday, February 22. They follow that up with a match against Upper Iowa on Sunday, February 23 at 9:30 AM.
