MOORHEAD, MN – The University of Mary wrestling team claimed victory in seven bouts to earn a 31-13 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead. Jeremy Leintz, Braydon Huber, and Payton Hume highlighted the Marauders efforts with bonus point wins, including back to back pins by Huber and Hume.
 
Jeremy Leintz got the Marauders going with a 12-3 major decision at 125. Leintz jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first period and never looked back, giving UMary a 4-0 lead. Laken Boese earned a win by forfeit to put UMary up 10-0.
 
MSUM was able to bring themselves back by claiming 141 by major decision and 149 by technical fall.
 
#12 Braydon Huber got things back into control for the Marauders, pinning his opponent in 2:05 to give the Marauders six points. Huber recorded one takedown, moving him just six behind the single season record.
 
Payton Hume followed up Huber's performance with a pin of his own. Hume earned the win at 165 by fall at 4:38 to give UMary a 22-9 lead.
 
The Dragons claimed 174 by a 12-1 major decision.
 
The Marauders lone senior, Austin Eichmann earned a win by a 5-2 decision at 184. A pair of first period takedowns by Eichmann proved to be the difference in the match.
 
Gerardo Jaime (197) recorded all of his points in the third period to claim the victory by a 3-2 decision.
 
Dominic Tudor (285) also waited until the third period to score all his points, closing out the win for UMary with a 3-1 decision.
 
The Marauders will be back at home this Sunday, February 16 for a dual against in-state rivals, Minot State. Be sure to come out and PACK THE MAC at 3 PM.
