BISMARCK, ND – Cassie Askvig had another career performance, setting a pair of school records in the process. The Marauders senior posted 45 points to break the school single game scoring record and tied another school record with 17 free throws made. UMary and Southwest Minnesota State both battled hard in a back and forth overtime thriller with SMSU holding the advantage in the end, taking down UMary 91-85. The game featured 10 lead changes and another 18 times where the game was tied up. Askvig and Rotunda both posted double-doubles on the game with Askvig knocking down 61 percent of her shots from the field and Rotunda making 67 percent of hers.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 12-9 overall and 6-6 in the NSIC. SMSU improves to 9-8 overall and 4-8 in the Northern Sun.
FIRST HALF BREAKDOWN
The first half was a back and forth thriller featuring five lead changes. Both teams held a lead as large as seven but the game would head to half with the Marauders leading 43-42.The first half was the

Lauren Rotunda pitched in 10 points and six rebounds.
Macy Williams got the Marauders sparked early, working the pull up jump shot game, scoring six early points off of them. UMary used the free throw line to their advantage in the first half, knocking down 17 from the charity stripe.
SECOND HALF BREAKDOWN
The second half was much like the first, back and forth with plenty of excitement. SMSU was able to build their way up to a seven point lead halfway through the third.
Macy Williams once again used a couple pull up jumpers to get the Marauders going. That's when
Cassie Askvig began to take over. She matched her 20 point first half performance with 19 second half points. Askvig scored the final 10 points in regulation for UMary to help send the game overtime.
OVERTIME BREAKDOWN
The first four minutes of overtime featured the Marauders taking a two point lead followed by SMSU tying things up. This scenario occurred over and over again until the Mustangs claimed their first overtime lead with 49 seconds to play. SMSU was able to capitalize off of clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to claim victory.

The Marauders hit the road for the first time in a couple weeks next weekend when they head to Minnesota. UMary will take on Minnesota Crookston on Friday, January 24 at 5:30 PM in Crookston, MN. They will follow that up with a game against Bemidji State on Saturday, January 25 at 3:30 PM in Bemidji, MN.
