UMary Wrestling Uses Historic Comeback To Take Down #16 Lindenwood, Goes 1-2 at NWCA National Duals

LOUISVILLE, KY – A historic comeback against a nationally ranked opponent highlighted the University of Mary wrestling teams' efforts at the NWCA National Duals. The Marauders used 33 unanswered points to close out to dual against #16 Lindenwood University. With the win against the Lions, UMary went 1-2 on the day, dropping their other two duals to #13 Limestone College and #18 Colorado School of Mines. Braydon Huber, Phillip Springsteen, and Dominic Tudor all had 3-0 performances on the day.
 
DUAL ONE: UMARY 18 LIMESTONE 24
After dropping the first four matches of the dual to #13 Limestone College, the Marauders found themselves in a 17-0 deficit. UMary was able to turn things up after that, winning four of the final six bouts and outscoring LC 18-7. Unfortunately, the late push was not enough to propel the Marauders past the Saints, losing by a score of 18-24.
 
Braydon Huber (157) got the Marauders on the board first with a 15-6 major decision. Phillip Springsteen continued the winning ways with an 8-2 decision at 174 lbs. Grant Litke (184) followed that up with the most dominant win of the dual, a 19-0 technical fall. Dominic Tudor (285) closed the dual out with a win for UMary, earning the win due to injury forfeit.  
 
DUAL TWO: UMARY 33 LINDENWOOD 18
After falling behind 18-0 in the first four matches against #16 Lindenwood, the Marauders launched a historic comeback, putting up 33 unanswered points to close out the dual. With a never back down mentality, the Marauders won weight classes 157 through 285, recording four falls, a technical fall, and a major decision.
 
Braydon Huber once again got the winning going for UMary, pinning his opponent at 6:41. Payton Hume followed that up by making short work of his opponent, taking just 17 seconds to pin him. Springsteen dominated his opponent, winning by a 17-2 technical fall. Grant Litke didn't waste any time beating his opponent, taking him down by fall in just 40 seconds. Gerardo Jaime followed that up with an 11-3 major decision. Tudor made it six straight for UMary with UMary's fourth fall of the dual, pinning his opponent at 4:02.
 
DUAL THREE: UMARY 9 COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES 28
In their final dual of the day, the Marauders fell to #18 Colorado School of Mines by a score of 28-9.
Huber, Springsteen, and Tudor all earned wins in the match to go 3-0 on the day. Huber, earning the Marauders first win for the third straight dual, won by a 9-7 decision. Springsteen earned a win by a 9-3 decision. Tudor closed out the day with a 5-0 decision.
