BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary welcomed another nationally ranked team to town on home opening weekend. The Marauders and the #24 University of Sioux Falls Cougars went at it this afternoon with both teams exchanging big runs. USF was able to take all three sets and sweep the Marauders. UMary did not go down without a fight, taking the Cougars down to the wire in the final two sets, showing improvement during each set.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 1-9 on the season. USF improves to 10-0.
PIVOT POINT
USF was able to storm out and take set number one by a score of 25-16. Though the Cougars took set one, it was the Marauders who seemingly gained momentum at the end of the set, going on a 5-1 run to get themselves back into it. Set two was much of the same with USF jumping out to a 9-2 lead but yet again the Marauders stormed back with a late 6-1 run to make the set competitive but the Cougars took the set.
In the third set the Marauders held a 16-15 lead late in the set. The Cougars then strung together a 10-3 run to claim the match.

Morgan Schnabel had 11 kills with a .231 hitting percentage and an ace
Sydney Murphy had 29 assists, two kills, and an ace
Katja Berge recorded seven kills with a .417 hitting percentage
Madison Bergthold had five kills with a .500 hitting percentage and two blocks
Natalia Cruz had 12 digs
Caitlin Schneeweis recorded seven kills, seven digs, and two blocks

The Marauders recorded a team hitting percentage of .247. Four different Marauders recorded a hitting percentage above .230. Bergthold had the highest with .500, followed by Berge with a .417 hitting percentage, Murphy with .333, and Schnabel with a .231 hitting percentage.
