BILLINGS, MT – The University of Mary wrapped up play at the Rimrock Classic and closed out a three-game road stretch with a neutral site game today against Humboldt State. The Marauders were able to get on the board early, but Humboldt State caught fire, scoring five goals on the game, taking down the Marauders 5-1.
The Marauders fall to 0-4 and the Lumberjacks improve to 3-1.
HSU was able to get on the board just seconds into the match, but the Marauders did not take long to respond.
Tresor Mugawaneza recorded his first career goal just 3:31 into the game. Mugawaneza received a rebound off a previous shot on goal and fired the ball into the net to tie the match at 1-1.
Blake Palmquist was credited with the assist.
"We all know Tresor is going to be a great player," stated Head Coach
Dave Cook. "It was great to see him get a goal. He made a big impact at certain moments."
The Marauders freshman continues to improve from game to game. Mugawaneza leads the Marauders in shots this season with a total of nine.
The Lumberjacks responded with four more goals of their own to put the game out of reach for UMary.
"We certainly left 2-3 goal out there," said Coach Cook. "Overall, we just need to be sharper and more concentrated all the way through."
The Marauders got a total of 12 shots off, nine of which were on frame.
Stanley Joseph and
Keaton Boehm led the Marauders with two shots on goal each.
The Marauders will look to improve as they return home for a pair of games. "We look forward to getting a couple of good games at home," said Cook.
