Darius Barlas became the first University of Mary player in ten years to reach double digits in home runs and
Jesus Payan and
Jaxon Ford added home runs of their own in a pair of losses to Northern State University. The visiting Marauders lost the opener 5-4 in extra innings before falling 10-3 in game two of the Northern Sun doubleheader.
Unable to finish innings, the Marauders witnessed the Wolves scored ten straight runs with two outs across the two games. The Wolves tying and winning runs in the seventh and eighth innings of game one both came with two outs, as did their first eight runs in the second contest.
GAME 1 Northern State 5 UMary 4 (eight innings)
Darius Barlas cracked a 2-run home run in the fourth inning to provide the Marauders a 3-2 lead in a game that featured four lead changes. The home run from Barlas was his 10
th of the year, the most for a UMary player since Tyler Liffrig cracked 11 in the 2009 season.
PIVOT POINT
Daulton Sauce provided the Marauders a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh with a single through the right side of the infield to score pinch runner
Brandon Schultz. With the Marauders eyeing victory, the Wolves rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh on a 2-out single to right center by Mikey Adams to score Spenser Larson and send the game into extra innings. More two-out heroics in the eighth gave the Wolves a walk-off win as Hayden Hall grounded a single through the right side to score pinch runner Carter Erickson with the winning run.

Continuing his hot play,
Jesus Payan posted three hits and hit his third home run of the season. The senior from Chihuhua, Mexico, has hits in 19 of his last 21 games and increased his season batting average to .374. Despite Payan's efforts, the Marauders couldn't keep pace with a Northern State attack that deposited four balls over the fence and outhit the Marauders 11-8.
PIVOT POINT
The Wolves touched the Marauders for five runs in the second inning, scoring all five times with two outs. Northern State recorded five of their six hits with two outs and a runner on first. The big blow was a 2-run home run to right field by Adams. NSU tacked on another run in the third for a 6-0 led before Payan homered in the fourth inning. The Wolves responded with a pair of runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

The doubleheader begins at 1:30 pm with a Northern Sun game. The second contest is slated for approximately 3:30 pm and is a non-conference game.
