GRAND FORKS, ND – The University of Mary tennis team concluded their regular season today against in-state DI foe University of North Dakota. The Marauders battled hard throughout the entirety of the match but they could not overcome the Fighting Hawks. UMary fell 1-6 to UND.
The Marauders conclude their season with a 13-5 record, going 8-4 in the NSIC for one of the best seasons in program history.
Kali Askvig picked up the Marauders lone win of the day. The freshman dominated her foe winning 6-3, 6-1.
Jamie Stoppler lost in a hard fought match that went to a super tiebreaker. After dropping the first set, Stoppler took control of the second set winning 6-2. The freshman fell in the super tiebreaker 2-10.
Many of the matches were tremendously close with the Marauders battling hard for each and every point they scored.
UMary fell 6-3 in all three of the doubles matches.
The Marauders now begin to prepare for the NSIC tournament which begins next Saturday, April 13 at 4:30 PM in Minnetonka, Minn. UMary will take on Minnesota Duluth in the first round.
