LAKE MYRTLE, FL – The University of Mary jumped out to leads in both games of a non-conference doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan before the Bobcats rallied to score a combined 11 sixth-inning runs in the two games, catapulting WVW to a pair of wins over the Marauders 9-6 and 7-3.
GAME 1 West Virginia Wesleyan 9 UMary 6
Jesus Payan pounded out three of the Marauders season-high 13 hits in a 9-6 loss to the Bobcats. Wesleyan had 11 hits of their own and exploded for five runs in the sixth inning.
PIVOT POINT
UMary grabbed leads of 2-0 and 4-3 but Wesleyan battled back both times. The Bobcats snapped a 4-4 tie with a 5-run sixth inning, using three hits and two errors.

A scoreless game until the Marauders scored twice in the fifth inning on a
Jaxon Ford two-run single, the Bobcats responded with six runs – five unearned – in the sixth on just two hits and a UMary error.
PIVOT POINT
Immediately after the Marauders scored the opening two runs of the game in the fifth inning, the Bobcats scored six times in the top of the sixth inning. A 2-run triple by Ryan Kiser closed out the inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Travis Holte allowed just three hits and one earned run in 5.1 innings, striking out two.
Charles Bielejeski was the losing pitcher in both games for the Marauders, allowed two runs in both games. Both runs allowed in the second game were unearned.
