Dominant Efforts By Marauders Leads To 6-1 Victory Over Warriors

FARGO, ND – The University of Mary tennis team took on Winona State this morning. The Marauders took down the Warriors 6-1, this was UMary's first win against WSU since the 2016 season.
 
The Marauders improve to 7-2 on the season and 6-2 in the NSIC.
 
UMary started the match by winning two of the three doubles matches.
 
The Marauders lost in #1 doubles but the teams of Danielle Wolf and Jamie Stoppler won 6-1 and the team of Kelsey Lajom and Kali Askvig won 6-3 to give UMary two of three matches to earn the one point from doubles play.
 
Yusra Hegy got things rolling in #2 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kendra Kappes.
 
Tasha Dembo beat the Warriors Beth Murman in #1 singles in a highly competitive and very close match. Dembo claimed a 7-5, 7-5 victory.
 
Jamie Stoppler clinched the victory for the Marauders with a 6-4, 6-1 win in #4 singles.
 
The Warriors claimed their only singles win in #3 singles when Kelsey Lajom fell to Kaisey Skibba 6-1, 6-3.
 
Kali Askvig showed consistency through her two sets in her win over Caitlin Anderson 6-2, 6-2.
 
Danielle Wolf took down Faith Young 6-4, 7-6 in #5 singles.
 
The Marauders head to the sunshine state for their next five matches. UMary will take on five different schools from across the country between March 7-12 while in Orlando, FL.
