ST. PETER, MN – The University of Mary tennis team had a busy day with two matches on hand. The Marauders kicked things off bright and early against Gustavus Adolphus College. The Marauders beat the Gusties 5-2. 
 
UMary returned to NSIC play later in the day with a match against SMSU at 12:30 PM. With less than an hour rest between matches, the Marauders took down the Mustangs 4-3. With the two wins today the Marauders win streak extends to four.
 
Jamie Stoppler led the way for the Marauders winning all of her singles and doubles matches on the weekend. 
 
With this weekends wins the Marauders improve to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC.
 
Match one
UMary 5 Gustavus Adolphus 2
 
The Marauders swept doubles to give UMary a 1-0 heading into singles. The team of Dembo and Hegy won 6-3, Wolf and Stoppler won 6-2 and Lajom and Kali Askvig won 6-4. 
 
Jamie Stoppler made short work of her opponent in #4 singles winning 6-3, 6-2.
 
Tasha Dembo dominated in #1 singles winning 6-2, 6-3.
 
The win by Yusra Hegy clinched the match for the Marauders. Hegy won 6-2, 6-1 in #2 singles.
 
Kelsey Lajom won in #3 singles 6-3, 6-4.

Taking two out of three doubles matches the Marauders locked up one point heading into singles. The team of Dembo and Hegy won 6-3 and the team of Danielle Wolf and Stoppler won 6-4.
 
Dembo and Hegy both made short work of their opponents in #1 and #2 singles. Both athletes beat their opponenets 6-4, 6-0.
 
Jamie Stoppler clinched the match for the Marauders with her 6-1, 6-3 win over her opponent. Stoppler went undefeated in the three matches over the weekend.
 
With the 4-3 win over SMSU, UMary improves to 3-1 in NSIC play. 
 
The Marauders will be back in action next weekend for two NSIC matches in Grand Forks, ND. The Marauders will first take on Minnesota Crookston on Friday, February 22 at 3:30 PM. They will follow that up with a match against Bemidji State on Saturday, February 23 at 8:30 AM.
