ST. CLOUD, MN – The University of Mary women's basketball team continued to impress on the defensive side of the ball, making St. Cloud State work for every shot they were able to take in the battle between two Northern Sun foes. The overpowering defense combined with a strong second half shooting performance, shooting over 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from deep, led the Marauders to a 60-51 win over the Huskies.
Cassie Askvig led the way for the Marauders with 21 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, 75 percent shooting from deep, and 100 percent shooting from the charity stripe.
Lexie Schneider pitched in 13 points and nine rebounds off of 75 percent shooting from the field.
With the win the Marauders improve to 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in NSIC play. SCSU falls to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
