Lexie Schneider led the University of Mary women's basketball team to a 51-39 victory over Northeastern State. The Marauders sophomore center led the team with 15 points and 18 rebounds, both career highs. With a strong defensive performance, the Marauders were able to hold the Riverhawks to 39 points on 30 percent shooting. The game was blown open by a big second and third quarter by the Marauders, creating separation between them and the opposition.
With the win, UMary improves to 2-3 on the season. Northeastern State falls to 0-2.
FIRST HALF BREAKDOWN
The two teams squared off in the first quarter for a defensive battle with neither team posting double-digit points. The two squads were evened up at nine entering the second quarter. The Marauders were able to get things going in the second quarter, outscoring the Riverhawks 14-9 to take a five point lead into half.
SECOND HALF BREAKDOWN
The Marauders broke things open in the second quarter with their best shooting quarter of the game, knocking down 55 percent of their shots from the field, outscoring NSU 18-12 in the quarter to take a 11 point lead into the final quarter. That's where to Marauders defense stepped up, holding the Riverhawks to less than ten points in a quarter for the third time in the game. The stout defense finalized a 51-39 win for the Marauders.

The Marauders return home for the first time of the season for a trio of home games next week. UMary hosts Presentation College on November 12 at 6 PM in the McDowell Activity Center. They will follow that up with home games on Thursday, November 14 at 6 PM against Dickinson State and then a matchup with Mayville State on Saturday, November 16 at 6 PM.
