BISMARCK, ND – Playing in front of their biggest fans, their parents, the University of Mary volleyball team took on Augustana on parents night. The Marauders held the advantage in blocks during the match with
Hannah Hanson recording a game high of three.
Sydney Murphy recorded her 12
th double-double of the season during the match with fellow setter
Jessica Oja falling one dig shy of her first career double-double. Despite big performances by those three, UMary would fall in three sets to the Vikings.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 1-25 on the season and 0-17 in NSIC play. Augie improves to 18-8 on the year and 11-6 in conference play.
PIVOT POINT
Augustana jumped out to a 9-7 lead in the first set followed by an 8-1 run by the Vikings and then another 6-1 run put the set out of reach for the Marauders and put momentum on the side of the Vikings. The Marauders attempted to slow the oppositions momentum in the second set holding a tie at 12 midway through the set and then only trailing 18-17 late but a 7-3 run by Augie to close the set ended the chance of evening the match up at one. Augustana took an early lead in the third set and never relinquished it, setting themselves up for a sweep of UMary.

Sydney Murphy has recorded a double-double. Murphy began the season with eight straight double-doubles in non-conference play. Since jumping into NSIC play, Murphy has recorded four double-doubles. She is now two for two in double-doubles against Augustana. She recorded 18 assists and 11 digs in the two teams first matchup and 11 assists and 10 digs today.
